Sorry, but that indeed was a no goal. Can't even make an argument for it

So what your saying is, anytime the other team is threatening in your zone, you just check one of their guys into your goalie and then you don't have to worry about them scoring.

Makes total sense.

Not to make excuses for the Wild (pred fan here) but Zach Parise's dad J.P. Has been very sick lately and passed away yesterday. I think this has had an impact as well.
Good man J.P. Rest in Peace.

Hey Preds, stop winning. The Blues are trying to move up in the standings but it doesn't work if you keep winning as well........

Great 1st half of the season.

I'll agree Smith took his sweet time getting out of the way of Lehtonen but Demers was quilty of cross checking & interference. Should have let the goal stand or the Preds should have been on the PP.

Agree, somewhat. I think the goal should count, only because it was more the defenders fault than Smith's. But I 100% agree if it was no goal, it was at the very least a penalty and should have been a PP for the Preds

Of course it should have been a penalty. But he was all over the goaltender and could have done a lot more to get out of the way.

Still, claiming that's a good goal is just plain homer.

If its a penalty then you have to stop play... If you allow play to continue, what is Forsberg suppose to do? Hold on to the puck until the goaltender says "Ok, I am ready"?

Play continued and the back Referee motioned good goal, and motion cross check indicating that it was the defenders fault Smith was on the goaltender.

Hey Paul, I don't post much, but I look forward to your blogs. I have a few questions I'm hoping you can help with:

Just for comparison, do you have any stats on where the Preds were in the standings at the half way point in other seasons? At least the top couple of them?

Also, maybe the latest date in the season we were actually tops in a division?

What's the record for most comeback wins in a season? I have to think we're on pace to be close to beating that this season. Seems like the first goal gets scored against us more often than not.

I was concerned at the beginning of the season that we were only seeing goals from our top line, and the whole best scoring team 5 on 5, but being one of the worst in special teams. Looks like things are starting to level out a little which makes me feel a little better.

Now if we can learn to not to sit back when we have leads.

Thanks!!

If Rinne doesn't get a Hart nomination this year, something went very wrong in the second half. Ditto Laviolette and the Adams.

Unfortunately with Ellis getting hurt, Rinne will have to step up his game. The past week or two haven't been his best either . With the D a bit depleted now, if he can keep it up, I would think his nomination would be even more so deserving.

Interesting confrontational comment. I don't think anyone can argue that under Trotzy, Wilsons game did not fit. That can be said for a lot of players that had success in other orgs. And if Trotzy was still HC, Wilson might have been traded - and performed better. Under the new offensive system everyone expected (hoped) Wilsons game would flourish. It has.

"Their horses are not doing what they are paying them for and their goaltending is mediocre to flat out bad sometimes"

That's the nicest thing anyone has said about the Wild's goaltending this season

I was refering to the comments made
a few games into this season. I have
never understood why Trotz benched
him in the playoffs one year when he was
something like a +7 and decent O numbers
I always loved how Trotz could make something
out of not much but I always go back to
Rich Peverly.
